The stage play “What They’ll Remember” is full of drama and music with moments of comedy that touches upon the saga of five female inmates serving time for murder.  The cast did an incredible job.  The casting agents and talent managers  who missed out must see the live performance for yourselves to experience the multi-dimensional energy of the Lead Actress Tadaa Jackson in her riveting monologue performance that had us spellbound.

Only now may visitors, tourists and theater goers take full advantage and add this Off-Broadway stage play to their itinerary of things to do in New York, for a limited time, from now through December 2016.

The whole cast is a professionally blended mix of diverse talent,  including their Broadway Music Director, right down to the stage manager and set-crew, with the promise of captivating your attention throughout the entire show.

A Salute to Elena Bascom for Women’s History Month

Elena Sterling was born February 7, 1945 in Colon, the Republic of Panama to Theodosia and Vincent Sterling, and grew up the eldest of twelve children that later became a single parent home. At a young tender age, she embraced her gift of helping others and helped her mother with her brothers and sisters whenever possible.

In Panama, Sterling graduated high school even after experiencing hunger, homelessness and molestation, but she continued to help her family in her pursuit of a better life.  So when she was 25 years old she left Panama and moved to New York with only three hundred dollars.  She met and married George Bascom and she gave birth to their son, Edward A. Bascom.  

But very soon after, mental, emotional and physical abuse would ensue and cause the family to deteriorate. She became disappointed with despair about her divorce but managed to persevere.

Today she is Reverend Dr. Elena Bascom, a survivor of domestic violence, who created Jericho Road  Inc. because she wanted to help victims of domestic abuse.   If you or anyone you know keep getting knocked around physically, mentally or emotionally, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help (right now).   If you have questions regarding domestic violence or need help or want more information contact Jericho Road Inc. at 347-733-1502.

Brooklyn, NY (@starjournalnews) Marlon Peterson Ebony Magazine’s top Power 100 honorees of hero’s within Brooklyn African American communities hosted a meet and greet celebrating a precedential year of community, in the spirit of justice, inspiration and appreciation, where he and friends gathered at the Lion’s Den in Brooklyn as a part of his commitment and community work.

The evening was laced with Caribbean fusion cuisine and topped with plenty of drinks for him and his distinguished guests.

Marlon is the Founder of The Precedential Group, a consulting firm advocating for social justice and currently focused on gun control laws as a result of him serving time for a 10-year bid for his participation in a gun-related crime. He now dedicates his life to helping Brooklyn communities safely live and thrive.
